Using traditional katazome (stencil dyeing) techniques, each piece is hand-dyed one by one by skilled artisans in a wooden workshop in Kyoto that has stood for over 110 years. More than ten separate stencils are carefully layered to achieve the final design. The refined beauty of Kutani porcelain painting and the heritage of Japanese dyeing craftsmanship come together in this elegant and distinguished piece.
