This furoshiki is approximately 90cm in size. Because gourds have many seeds, they represent wishes for prosperity and fertility. Furthermore, because the gourd's vines tend to entangle things, they are also a symbol of business prosperity. (Gourds belong to the vine family.) A pattern with so many meanings is rare, and it has long been a popular lucky charm. The design features a modern arrangement of traditional patterns, with colors ranging from subdued to bright and refreshing. Colored elements are scattered throughout the gourd pattern to create accents when wrapped. The gold print uses "mud gold" from Horikinpaku Co., Ltd.
In a wooden gassho-style factory in Kyoto that has been in business for 110 years, artisans continue to carefully dye each furoshiki by hand using the traditional stencil dyeing technique.
This beautiful hand-dyed furoshiki, presented in an original KASHIKO black gift box, is a wonderful Christmas gift that conveys wishes of good fortune and success to a loved one.
